Business Garage is an exciting, dynamic, growing company offering a wide range of outsourced business support services to SMEs locally.  We are looking for a highly professional, enthusiastic and approachable Finance Manager to support the Financial Controller and manage a small team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to take ownership of their role and make a real difference to our growing business.

The role:

In this broad, interesting and challenging finance role you will provide complete finance management, bookkeeping and payroll services to a wide range of SME clients. You will also be responsible for managing a small team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Line management and mentoring of team
  • Management of team’s workload, ensuring client service levels are met
  • Client relationship management
  • Taking a proactive approach to identifying and resolving any issues
  • Management accounts preparation
  • VAT returns
  • Processing income, receipts and expenses
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Preparing and processing monthly payment runs
  • Running payroll
  • Ad-hoc finance tasks
  • Keeping GDPR and data protection in mind in day to day responsibilities

The person:

We are looking for someone with a strong finance background who has experience of all the above. You may have worked as a Finance Manager already, or Senior Finance Executive, or Senior Bookkeeper with line management responsibilities. Ideally you will be used to dealing with a number of clients from different sectors, and be flexible about working off-site at clients’ premises. Client relationship management is key to the success of this role, so you will have a strong customer service ethos.

Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are essential. You should be familiar with a range of accounting and payroll software packages – SAGE and Xero in particular. You will also need a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
