This month Business Garage will be running a series of staff profiles of some of our team.
What is your typical day like?
My job is so varied that every day is different, which I love. Today, for example, I carried out some HR administration (monthly pension assessment, processing childcare voucher orders and managing holidays & sickness records for staff); wrote copy for the website; liaised with a broker about a complex insurance matter; booked customers in; organised a new utilities supplier; and resolved office management issues.
What question do you get asked all the time?
At peak times I handle on average about 60 inbound calls per day, for a particular client – for whom I receive no end of questions! I like to think that I am now a bit of an expert, however, if I don’t know the answer to a query, I will find out then call the customer back as soon as possible.
What have you learnt in this role?
I had a very strong customer service, project management, and recruitment / HR background before I started at Business Garage. Learning all about different insurance policies across the world has been challenging but interesting, and I feel confident managing insurance for our clients.
What has been your biggest highlight this year at Business Garage?
Managing a large IT project: a company-wide server transfer and software upgrade which I’m pleased to say went smoothly with no disruption to the business!
What do you enjoy most about working here?
I love the variety of my work, the flexibility (I work part-time) and the team are fantastic.
