For those of you who are self-employed or if you have more than one source of income, you will need to submit your self-assessment form online.
And with this years tax return deadline of 31st January is fast approaching it seems women are more likely to submit theirs on time than men. According to HMRC of every 10,000 returns submitted last year by men, 394 arrived after the deadline, compared to 358 for every 10,000 submitted by women.
There are currently around 4.5 million returns outstanding with 6.45 million returns having already been submitted. Ruth Owen of HM Revenue and Customs has said “Whatever your gender, age, occupation or location, if you haven’t sent in your 2013-14 tax return, you need to take action now. Don’t leave it until the last minute to contact us. Do it now, and avoid a last-minute rush to beat the deadline”.
If you’re registered for self-assessment you need to file your 2013-14 tax return, and pay what you owe, by midnight on 31 January. For more information visit: https://www.gov.uk/self-assessment-tax-returns
